সোমবার যুক্তরাজ্যের পররাষ্ট্র ও কমনওয়েলথ বিষয়ক মন্ত্রী হুগো সয়্যার সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎকালে জাতীয় সংসদের স্পীকার এবং সিপিএ নির্বাহী কমিটির চেয়ারপার্সন ড. শিরীন শারমিন চৌধুরী এই আহ্বান জানান।
সংসদ সচিবালয়ের জনসংযোগ পরিচালক মঞ্জুর আহমেদ সোমবার রাতে এক প্রেস বার্তায় এই খবর জানিয়েছেন।

স্পীকার এসময় দু’দেশের গণতান্ত্রিক উন্নয়নে সিপিএ ও কমনওয়েলথ এর সমন্বিত ভূমিকা জোরদারের উপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন।
এসময় ব্রিটিশ মন্ত্রী দু’দেশের সম্পর্ক সম্প্রসারণের পাশাপাশি সহযোগিতা ও বন্ধুত্বের সম্পর্ক ভবিষ্যতে আরও বৃদ্ধির আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেন। তিনি বাংলাদেশের আর্থ-সামাজিক উন্নয়নে যুক্তরাজ্যের অব্যাহত সহযোগিতারও আশ্বাস প্রদান করেন।
