আজ বিশ্ব ভোক্তা অধিকার দিবস। এবারের প্রতিপাদ্য ‘স্বাস্থ্যকর খাদ্য ভোক্তার অধিকার’। ভোক্তা আন্দোলনকে আরও গতিশীল করার লক্ষে প্রতিবছরই এই দিনটি বিশ্বব্যাপি পালিত হয়ে থাকে।
বিশ্বব্যাপী ক্রেতা-ভোক্তা সংগঠনগুলোর আন্তর্জাতিক সংস্থা কনজ্যুমারস ইন্টারন্যাশনালের (সিআই) আহ্বানে ১৯৮৩ সাল থেকে বাংলাদেশসহ বিশ্বজুড়ে এই দিনটি পালন করে আসছে। ১৯৬২ সালের এই দিনে মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট জন এফ কেনেডি ভোক্তা অধিকারকে সংজ্ঞায়িত করেন এবং তিনিই প্রথম বিশ্বনেতাদের মধ্যে বিষয়টি তুলে ধরেন। এবং ১৯৬৩ সালে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের কংগ্রেসে ভোক্তা আন্দোলনের আনুষ্ঠানিক ঘোষণাও দেন তিনি। বিশ্বের ১১৫টি দেশে ২২০টি ভোক্তা অধিকার সংগঠন দিবসটি পালন করছে এবং জাতীয় ভোক্তা অধিকার সংরক্ষণ অধিদপ্তর ও কনজুমার অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব বাংলাদেশ (ক্যাব) যৌথভাবে নানা কর্মসূচি পালন করবে বলে জানা গেছে।
জাতীয় ভোক্তা অধিকার সংরক্ষণ অধিদফতরের মহাপরিচালক মো. আবুল হোসেন মিঞা জানান, দিবসটি উপলক্ষে দেশের সব জেলা ও উপজেলায় সেমিনার, মানববন্ধন ও সচেতনতামূলক বুকলেট বিতরণ ও অন্যান্য অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হবে।
