বার বার ছুটি চেয়ে না পাওয়ায় হতাশ হয়ে সিলেট কোতোয়ালি থানার কনস্টেবল তৌহিদুল ইসলাম (কং মং ১৭৯৬) নিজের গোপনাঙ্গ নিজেই কেটে ফেলেছেন। পরে তাকে গুরুতর অবস্থায় সিলেট এমএজি ওসমানী মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে। বুধবার বিকেল সাড়ে ৪টায় তাকে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়। তবে তার গোপনাঙ্গ কাটা নিয়ে কোতোয়ালী থানার ওসি ও কনস্টেবল তৌহিদের সহকর্মীদের কাছে আলাদা আলাদা বক্তব্য পাওয়া যায়। নাম প্রকাশ না করার শর্তে কোতোয়ালি থানার এক পুলিশ সদস্য আমাদের জানান, গত কয়েকদিন ধরে ছুটিতে যেতে চাইছিলেন কনস্টেবল তৌহিদুল ইসলাম। কিন্তু থানার ওসি আসাদুজ্জামান তাকে ছুটি দিচ্ছিলেননা। এ নিয়ে মানসিক অস্থিরতায় ভুগছিলেন তিনি। বিকেলে কোতোয়ালি থানা ভবনের চারতলায় উঠে তৌহিদ ব্লেড দিয়ে নিজের গোপনাঙ্গ কাটার চেষ্টা করেন। এসময় তার চিৎকারে অন্যান্য পুলিশ সদস্যরা এসে তাকে গুরুতর অবস্থায় উদ্ধার করে ওসমানী হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করেন। তবে কোতোয়ালি থানার ওসি আসাদুজ্জামান ছুটি চাওয়ার বিষয়টি অস্বীকার করে বলেন, ‘তৌহিদ আন্ডার শেভ করতে গিয়ে দুর্ঘটনা ঘটিয়েছে।’
