Sheikh Tasnim Afroz Emi received interim bail after being detained for playing a historic speech in Dhaka.
Sheikh Tasnim Afroz Emi, the former vice-president of Dhaka University’s Shamsunnahar Hall Students’ Union, was granted interim bail by the High Court in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act. The case originated from an incident on 7 March when Emi and others played the speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Shahbagh police station. The event was disrupted by Dhaka University students, including DUCSU leader AB Zubair and Musaddik Ali Ibn Mohammad. [source]
According to the First Information Report, the group, led by Emi and Abdullah Al Mamun, gathered near the National Museum and allegedly chanted provocative slogans facing a mosque during Tarawih prayers. They were accused of attempting activities of a banned organization and obstructing police duties. [source]
